From the standard Farr design, it was up to Ericsson Racing Team Project Manager, Atlant, and Construction Manager, Jason Carrington, to further modify the boat to find the neatest, most efficient solution, whilst ensuring it still met the criteria of the Volvo Open 70 Rule. The design rule stipulates that the boats must weigh between 12,500 and 14,000 kg, with a minimum weight of 4,500 kg in the keel bulb alone.
