Following huge success at the inaugural event in 2007, the next Food Industry Sailing Challenge takes place in Cowes on the Isle of Wight on the 19th and 20th June 2008. This two-day sailing regatta gives your company the opportunity to compete and socialise with colleagues from the food and grocery industry in a fun and stimulating environment whilst raising money for charity - last year we raised nearly £8000!
With a great mixture of exhilarating sailing and an exciting social programme ashore, the event provides a fantastic opportunity for networking, team-building and corporate entertainment. The regatta is run in conjunction with the world-famous Royal Yacht Squadron who organise the sailing. Racing takes place aboard a fleet of identical Sunfast 37 yachts on the sheltered waters of the Solent, with starts and finishes signalled by brass cannons fired from the clubhouse Castle Battlements – just as they are for Skandia Cowes Week and the Rolex Fastnet Race. No sailing experience is necessary; each boat can be crewed by a novice team of seven people under the guidance of a professional skipper, and all teams receive safety instruction. Small teams of two, three or four people can also be accommodated within our boat-share scheme. The sailing is complemented by an exciting programme of social events ashore – including a gala dinner in Cowes Yacht Haven and a Prizegiving Champagne Reception on the exclusive Royal Yacht Squadron lawn.
