A 360 mile race from Halifax Nova Scotia Canada to the French Islands of Saint Pierre et Miquelon lying 15 miles off the south coast of Newfoundland. A biennial event. The Route Halifax - Saint-Pierre race 2008 is a world class ocean race held every two years (opposite the Marblehead - Halifax race) from Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada to Saint-Pierre, France off of beautiful coastal Newfoundland. The first start will be on July 13 2008 with division II which are yachts racing non spinnaker (cruising class). July 14 will be the start for Division I, which is full racing sails both in IRC and PHRF classes. -Division One (full racing sails IRC and PHRF classes) -Division Two, which is for yachts racing "non spinnaker" - cruising canvas class -The starts will take place on the Halifax Waterfront off the stern of HMCS Sacville. -Both divisions will race directly to Saint-Pierre which usually takes 2 - 3 days.
