Home of the Spanish Navy and one of the oldest cities in the world, Carthagena will be reached by the Audi MedCup fleet at the height of the tourist season in August.

The weather will be hot, allowing reliable sea breezes to blow every day and give good challenging racing.

This venue is almost unknown to non-Spanish sailors and the fleet is relishing the thought of discovering a new regatta venue. Just 50 minutes by car from Alicante, many teams will take the opportunity at the beginning of the season to make a detour to Carthagena to understand the geography of the port.

As it is the second last regatta of the 2008 Audi MedCup Circuit, the battle for the Region of Murcia Trophy will be heated in more ways than one. The ranking order will have been established but teams will be trying to make the biggest sporting impression before the season finale in Portimao, Portugal.
