Mean Machine Mania

The fact that Mean Machine’s TP52 has been a reference for many in the sailing world over the last two seasons is nothing new. Nor does it come as a surprise that De Ridder’s team has a growing fan-base, something that the team is very proud of.
But this week there has been a pleasant surprise for the “Machiner’s” in the shape of a Blog written by a certain Juanpa Cadario, an Argentine crewmember of the TP 52 Matador.
Juanpa’s blog had a race report quite unlike any other: with the season over, the team was shocked to find there were TP 52s still racing… in a World Championship, no less!
But these were no average TP52s, mighty titans of the ocean that they are: these were MINI TP52s, a fleet of remote controlled Transpacs with a “Mini Mean Machine” as one of their stars.

The idea came from the boys at the King Marine shipyard in Alginet, Valencia (Spain). There’s now a healthy “fleet” and lots of fun to be had at weekends – no more tapping fingers in between races!
“Mini Mean Machine” is definitely the one to watch out for on this circuit. The downsized TP 52 even has a black hull with pink flames on her bow, just like her namesake. She finished third in the Mini World Championships.
Many Thanks to Juanpa and Eze Sirito for the article and photos, and a big congratulations to Jaime Garona, “Mini Mean Machine’s remote controlled TP52” owner.
