Binningen, Switzerland 1st April 2008:
The Tuzla-based yacht builders, Enigma Yachts, today
announced an all-new company, marketing and distribution structure to manage its growth in the
production and global sales and marketing of the successful Enigma 34 day racer
in addition to a number of upcoming projects.
Three new shareholders are now part of the company’s financial structure having recently
injected an undisclosed amount of capital to increase Enigma’s financial capabilities. The funding
has now been put in place to meet the increased demand from clients for the Enigma 34 and the
newly designed Enigma 34 Signature Edition that is scheduled for launch in May. The build
portfolio also includes the development of new designs to enlarge the range of Enigma yachts in
the 24ft and 44ft categories.
Enigma Yachts was founded in 2005 by the Danish sailing expert Frank Kirkegaard and the
company developed the high-performance day racer, the Enigma 34, as a one-design yacht.
Kirkegaard will continue acting as CEO and remains a shareholder of Enigma Yachts.
The first boat was delivered in 2006 to a Turkish client and further boats are now
competing in the UK, Australia, Switzerland and other regions. To address the
fast growing market demand for high-performance and stylish day sailing for a very
competitive price, the Enigma 34 ‘Signature Edition’ was created in 2007 as a life
style upgrade to the Enigma 34 ‘Race’. The first Enigma 34 ‘Signature Edition’ will be delivered to
Switzerland in May 2008 for a racing and client testing campaign.
The 34 ‘Signature Edition’ comes with deck, cockpit and seats all with teak, clear coated
carbon tiller, electrical cooling box, a fully-fledged Nexus instrument package and with
North Sails 3DL square head main sail in Aramid or Carbon. Another new feature is the
Enigma Colour Concept allowing clients to create their individual colour scheme for boat
and sails.
The clear coated Seldén mast and bowsprit are standard on both the Enigma 34 ‘Race’
and Enigma 34 ‘Signature Edition’. Both boats are offered at a competitive price
significantly below that of comparable boats available in the market.
Dynamic growth for Enigma portfolio
New projects to include the Enigma 44 high-performance cruiser and the Enigma 24
‘Match Racer’ are under development for launch in 2008 and 2009.
Based on the dynamic growth of the Enigma portfolio and the re-positioning of the brand as high-
performance combined with lifestyle, a new look and feel has been developed and implemented
to support Enigma’s global marketing campaign. The branding combines a futuristic looking and
state-of-the-art design with a sleek and organic logo alongside black and orange
graphics.
In line with its restructure and refinancing, Enigma Yachts has appointed Swiss-based Yabo-
Sailing, headed up by Michael Bornhäusser, the majority shareholder of Yabo, to exclusively
handle the global sales and marketing. In addition, Bornhäusser is one of the new shareholders in
Enigma Yachts and he will also service the global dealership and customer base.
