Burghfield Sailing Club is one of the largest inland sailing clubs in the country. The lake has over 200 acres of sailable water and lies along the beautiful Kennet Valley so benefiting from the prevailing south-westerly winds.
The club is open every day from sunrise to sunset. You can race on most Sundays and on Wednesday evenings during the summer.
The clubhouse has excellent changing facilities, a bar with a lounge area and catering facilities. Hot drinks and snacks are provided on Sundays and, on Wednesday evenings in the summer, enjoy an evening meal after the race.
The Club provides safety cover during races, special events, junior training sessions and on Saturday afternoons during the summer months.
The club membership is made up of dinghy sailors with some sailbords. Fleet racing is very popular with Lasers, Enterprises, and RS400s. RS300’s, RS200’s, Phantoms, National 12s, Blazes, 420’s Toppers and many others race in fast and slow handicap classes.
There is a very active junior fleet with sailing Optimists and Toppers with abilities ranging from absolute beginners to a good standard for racing in national events.
The Club holds a number of social events throughout the year in the spacious clubhouse and produces newsletters to keep members up-to-date.
