Earlswood Lakes Sailing Club, founded in 1960, is a family club of aproximately 120 members.
Sailing takes place on Windmill Lake which is one of three lakes situated at the village of Earlswood, South West of Sollihull on the B4102
The water may be used at any time during daylight hours, although rescue facilities will only be manned during organised racing periods.
Sailing is open to most modern classes of boats in fact any Monohull with a Portsmouth Yardstick between 948 and 1180 having a centre board or dagger board. Established fleets exist for Merlin-Rocket, Enterprise, National 12, Laser, Toppers, Mirrors and Solos. Optomists are used by helms between 8 and 15 years of age and a limited amount ot supervised racing.
Training to RYA standards is available at reasonable fees by arrangement with the clubs senior instructor.
The club water is 27 acres in area, and the Clubhouse is situated overlooking the Lake.
The usual facilities such as showers, changing rooms, lounge, kitchen and members bar are available.
Non sailing members of the family will find the area around Earlswood of interest, there being many walks by the three lakes and the adjacent nature reserve of Cloweswood.
