Sailing events are supervised by a senior club member and supported by rescue boat facilities. Safety is of paramount importance and buoyancy aids / life jackets are worn at all times.
The club events calendar provides the opportunity to sail throughout the year whether you wish to race competitively or potter in your boat on a very attractive stretch of water. Races are organised for Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings in the spring, summer and autumn, and Sunday mornings in the winter. Senior members can sail at any other time unless the pool has been set aside for other users eg Sea Scout Regattas.
There are a number of club boats available for hire for those wishing to try sailing before buying a boat. These include Optibats, Picos and Toppers for the younger sailor and Enterprises and GP14s for the senior members.
The club has storage and dry launching of boats. A concrete launching ramp is also available for those who wish to trail and sail their boats. If you have a boat that you sail in the summer at the coast why not base your boat at the club during the winter and sail all year round.
Sailing Instruction and assessment to the RYA standards can be arranged. Crews for existing boat owners are always required and this is an excellent introduction to sailing. Social events are organised throughout the year and the club encourages family participation. Even if you are not sailing, the Club is a very pleasant spot in the summer to enjoy tea while watching the boats on the water. Social membership is available for those who just want to enjoy the warm friendly atmosphere of the club. There are a number of events organised outside of the club where members go for camping / sailing weekends. Many enjoy sailing in bigger boats as well.
The club is also an RYA recognised teaching establishment for powerboat training and assessment. Our qualified instructors provide the RYA level 2 Powerboat and Safety Boat Courses. Club members are encouraged to become competent powerboat users to provide safety cover.
