The Garrison Sailing Club sails at Thornton Steward Reservoir, which is seven miles south of Catterick. It is a membership of the club available to all service personnel, MOD employed civilians and dependants. The Garrison Club has a variety of sailing craft, including Bosuns, Laser Pico and Laser 2000, and a powerboat suitable for all levels of experience. The club also has a number of Windsurfing rigs and boards available
The costs of membership for the 2006 session are: £33 for full individual membership and £45 for family membership. This entitles the member/family to sail at any time of the week and at weekends. In order to cater for soldiers, who may not wish to take out full membership, a unit may take out a “block membership” at a cost of £220 for a major unit, and £100 for a minor unit.
This entitles qualified or supervised “Unit members” to sail during working hours from Monday to Friday.
