There are two types of land yacht sailing at Mablethorpe – Class 3 and Class 5. Depending on wind conditions the larger yachts are capable of speeds in excess of 80mph. The smaller yachts are still capable of reaching 60mph; acceleration from 10-60mph is less than 10 seconds, all this and no engine, no noise.
The Lincolnshire Club has a two-seater yacht which can be used by club members and people who have never sailed before. Also the Secretary, the current British & European Landyacht Champion and a Qualified Instructor has a small yacht suitable for young children. While the two-seater is not available to sail at the above event, tide times for suitable sailing are available.
