About Us

The Abbey Yacht Club, founded in 1965, has grown to become one of the largest inland lake Yacht Clubs in the Country and continues to grow due to one common passion – power boating on beautiful Geneva Lake.

In the past, you may have seen or heard about the fun activities and parties at the Abbey Marina, which by the way is adjacent to the beautiful Abbey Resort and Spa in Fontana, Wisconsin. A large part of that fun is made possible by The Abbey Yacht Club, a non- profit social club consisting of boaters from the Abbey Marina. The club is responsible for planning and overseeing various theme parties, pier parties, July 4th pier and boat decorating contests and all around enjoyment throughout the summer for our members, families and their guests.

Every summer The Abbey Yacht Club members respond to the call to share our resources and good fortunes with the community for the annual COSI/One Step at a Time Camp’s “Boat Day.” The camp gives children with cancer and leukemia an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and share their experiences. Boat Day affords campers, counselors and staff of the One Step Camp the opportunity to participate in water sports with Abbey Yacht Club members who donate their time and use of their boats for the event.

The Abbey Yacht Club is also registered with The Yachting Club of America, a national association of yachtsmen and yacht clubs. This allows our members Reciprocal Courtesy at many yacht clubs throughout the country.

The 2008 boating season promises another fun filled calendar of events. Many hours have been spent by our Flag Officers and Directors planning and overseeing a social program that promises to be enjoyable for the entire family. In the past, only Abbey Marina members were allowed to join The Abbey Yacht Club. However, since the addition of our “Social Membership” level, you too can join the fun and reciprocal privileges of The Abbey Yacht Club.
