The club was established in 1876.MSS has over 500 members, and the cores of our activities are education, training and organizing regattas. We have our own sailing magazine, MSS bladet that goes out to all our members once a month.
MSS has very competent sailors, juniors as well as adults. During the sailing season MSS frequently conducts sailing lessons with our dinghies and keelboats. MSS also conducts sailing school for children, juniors and adults during the sailing season.
MSS has a lot of experience in arranging big regattas, often in collaboration with other clubs in the region.
MSS’s clubhouse is located in Limhamns harbour, 6 km southwest of Malmö. The harbour holds approximately 1.100 yachts. Besides MSS there are two other sailing clubs, Limhamns Segelsällskap (LSS) and Limhamns Yachtklubb (LYC).
In our clubhouse we have our office, clubroom, restaurant, toilets, showers, sauna etc. In the harbour there are cranes, an equipment pier and access to electricity at the boats spaces. Available guest spaces are marked with a green signpost.
There are very good parking facilities in the harbour, and outside MSS’s clubhouse.
Limhamn center with shops etc. is situated in walking distance of the harbour. South of the harbour, about 300 meters, there are leisure, beach and camping areas.
Öresund offers many pleasant harbours to sail to. We recommend Dragör on the coast of Denmark, an old trade harbour built in Dutch style only 9 nm from Limhamn. On the Swedish side we have harbours like Skanör with lovely beaches. Many people sail over to the beautiful island Ven, the small Island with the famous Tyko Brahe Planetarium and wonderful nature.
When weather is clear Denmark is well visible westwards from our club house on the horizon. The Öresund Bridge between Malmö and Copenhagen had its Grand Opening Ceremony on July 1st, 2000 and is now open for car traffic and train travellers. The trip to Copenhagen by train takes approx 20 minutes.
