About Us

As an up and coming design firm we are keen to show off all our strengths in areas like detailed animations of our designs. We use technologically advanced software supported by top end computers. Our Modelling Section has a total of 26 years’ experience in modelling boats, both in the production and super yacht fields.

We believe that the 3D nature of a vessel needs to be borne in mind constantly in order to achieve the integrity of the design and consequently, we design in 3D from the outset. This also means that explicit relationships can be established between design variables, with changes being made at any point in the modelling process, which then update the whole model. We can therefore supply all parties involved with information quickly thus giving them a head start in their areas of the project. The fact that the Owner can approve a design reduces the risk of misinterpretation.

We offer a web service where all parties involved (with the Owner’s permission) can access our progress at anytime with secure passwords. This can be updated as often as requested, which allows anyone involved in the project to access the latest information and make comments.

We are one of the first companies to provide CAD elevational drawings and details with a 3D image as approved by the Owner as part of the supplied drawings. This is a standard deliverable from our Studio, and has been used to great benefit to suppliers in their working process.

Although Bjorn Johansson Design is a relatively young Company, it has created a great deal of interest in the Industry and has become known for its ability to think ‘out of the box’. Its Mirage Concept, which ably demonstrates this, has been awarded a Special Mention Award in the Millenium Yacht Design Awards.

2006 has been an exciting year for Bjorn Johansson Design, with commissions for the exteriors and interiors of super yachts from 35m to 88m. 2007 looks set to be another good year, with new projects on the table.
