Members sail off moorings in the harbor or dry sail from the club dock. In a matter of minutes, they are sailing in Long Island Sound.
The New Haven Yacht Club was chartered by a Special Act of the Connecticut Assembly in 1882, making it one of the oldest chartered yacht clubs in the nation. Read our club history. The NHYC sponsors the annual Mayor’s Cup Race.
Membership is open to all individuals who enjoy sailing in an informal atmosphere. Our members come from the greater New Haven area and as far as Westchester, NY and Hartford, CT. Boats range from 15 feet to 40 feet, including two cruising trimarans.
