About Us

St. Charles Yacht Club formally opened in April 1990 with facilities that included a Clubhouse with full dining and beverage service, a 68-slip marina that offers fuel and pump out services, tennis courts and a swimming pool.

For the first five years the club was owned and operated by a company developing the surrounding real estate. In December 1994, the developer turned the Club over to the membership and in January 1995, the first Commodore and Board of Directors were elected.

For the next four years, the Club struggled under the high burden of a high inherited mortgage and a low membership. Through the efforts of a few dedicated members, the Club generated funds by recruiting new members and promoting the sale of dock space. The result was that enough funds became available to build a Cabana, which was completed in December 1997 and the mortgage was retired in November 1998.

St. Charles became a member of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs in November 1998.

In mid-1999, as a result of an ongoing intensive membership drive, the Club established a cap of 148 members in June 1999. By early 2001, a General Manager was hired.

In Late 2000, the Club petitioned the International Order of the Blue Gavel for membership, which was granted and the St. Charles Blues Gavel Chapter was established.

In, 2003, the Club undertook a number of important projects to upgrade the 13-year old facility, which included remodeling the Cabana, refurbishing the main Clubhouse and dredging the harbour entrance channel.
