A residential outdoor centre on the shore of Coniston Water.
We are available to groups of young people and corporate clients. Unfortunatley we cannot cater for individuals, unless on one of our specialist courses.
The Estate has a history as a ‘Park’ belonging to Furness Abbey. The current estate comprises 65 acres, mainly woodland, and includes the former mansion house, ancillary building, a mile of lakeshore, a marina and a boathouse.
The Eric Wright Trust purchased the Water Park Estate in March 1998 and has converted the former mansion house into a residential Outdoor Adventure Centre.The Centre has room to accommodate up to 37 people, including staff. The Estate comprises approximately 65 acres, mainly woodland, on the shore of Conistonarial picture Water and includes the former mansion house, ancillary buildings, a mile of lake shore, a marina and boathouse.It’s superb location provides good access to Coniston Water, for a whole range of water based activities, Grizedale Forest and the south Lakeland Fells.
The Eric Wright Trust focuses on clients who are groups of young people from schools or other organisations, attending course of educational value and accompanied by their teachers and /or leaders. Such courses aim to enhance aspects of study relating to the National Curriculum, Personal and Social Education and recreation.
The Trust wishes to support any young people who are in financial need; teachers and leaders are encouraged to contact Water Park about such needs. The Trust can subsidise any young people who cannot afford the cost of a residential course at Water Park.Other courses will be provided for corporate clients, particularly those associated with the Eric Wright group of companies. Such course could promote team working, personnel development, managerial processes or be purely recreational.
The Estate has a history as a ‘Park’ belonging to Furness Abbey. Its origins are believed to go back to the 12th Century, although the current building is largely Georgian and Victorian in style. The thirteen bedrooms are equipped with single beds and provide accommodation for two, three, four and in one case five people.Showers and toilets are in close proximity. Equipment and clothing for a whole range of land and water based activities are provided.
