About Us

The Centre, established in 1964, is administered by North Yorkshire County Council for the benefit of students and adults from a wide variety of educational establishments and other organisations.

Bewerley Park is ideally situated in its own extensive grounds in the heart of the Nidderdale AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), just outside the Dales Market town of Pateley Bridge, near Harrogate. The surrounding area includes the Yorkshire Dales National Park and contains magnificent moorland, gritstone and limestone scenery, rivers, reservoirs and small lakes, lending itself to the provision of a wide variety of outdoor activities.

It is ideally situated in its own extensive grounds in the heart of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just outside the Dales Market town of Pateley Bridge – GR 161646. The Centre is easily accessible from Ripon (11 miles via B6265) and Harrogate (14 miles via B6165).

Main line train stations at York and Leeds have links to Harrogate. There is a bus service from Harrogate to Pateley Bridge. Leeds/Bradford Airport at Yeadon serves the area. (40 minutes drive from the Centre).

The surrounding area contains magnificent moorland, gritstone and limestone scenery. Outstanding local features include the River Nidd and Reservoirs, How Stean Gorge, Brimham Rocks, Greenhow Hill, Stump Cross Caverns, Fountains Abbey, Pateley Bridge Museum and attractive Dales villages and farms.
