JAMES CRACKNELL VISITS EARLS COURT TO SUPPORT THE ‘GET HOME SAFE’ CAMPAIGN

As the Christmas countdown begins and the festive party season gets underway, Stella Artois has found that up to 83% of us will get frustrated when trying to get home after a night out, owing to not planning our journeys home in advance. Stella Artois is encouraging people to make a plan to ‘get home safe’, which builds upon its commitment to responsible drinking. This initiative is lead by James Cracknell, a man who understands all too well the importance of planning, especially as he is about to set off on a race to the South Pole with Ben Fogle.
“From my experiences I know the importance of making a plan and getting home safe so I was really excited when I was asked to lead the Stella Artois campaign. It doesn’t matter if you are heading to the South Pole or East Finchley this Christmas, everyone should make a plan to get home safe.“
James Brooke, M.D. Of the Sail, Power & Watersports Show commented, “When we were contacted about holding this photo shoot outside Earls Court today, we jumped at the opportunity to help support such a worthy and topical campaign and it was a bonus to have James involved and with us today, perched in a rowing boat on top of a taxi! It all adds to the excitement leading up to the opening of the Show on Wednesday.”

SCORPION EXHIBITS STAND D10/SAIL, POWER & WATERSPORTS SHOW

Scorpion RIBs is a small Hampshire-based company with a big reputation and it’s not often that they attend boat shows, so this is a great opportunity for visitors to meet the team and take a look around one of these beautifully crafted boats. At the Sail, Power & Watersports Show, Scorpion is exhibiting a twin-engined Scorpion 8.5 metre RIB that was described by the editor of RIB International Magazine as, “A rigid inflatable that would rank alongside any craft, of any description, anywhere in the world. Attention to detail is superb and the vessel demonstrates a pleasing combination of functionality, ergonomics and aesthetics; three attributes which, when achieved harmoniously, become the ‘holy grail’ sought by all designers.”
Scorpion RIBs is also the builder of the fabulous Sting, 10 metre cabin RIB launched earlier this year of which Motor Boats Monthly commented after testing, “If you won’t settle for anything but the best then you had better start saving for a Sting.”
The Sting is built on the famous Scorpion Hull, which has an outstanding record in racing and endurance travel, and explains why private owners in the 2008 Round Britain Offshore Powerboat Race chose a Scorpion over any other vessel. No less than seven Scorpions were entered and everyone completed the tough course, including the only all-female team, in a Sting. If you want a boat that really can take you anywhere in safety and comfort, have a look at the Scorpion Stand D10.
The Sail, Power & Watersports Show at Earls Court gears up for business

The Sail, Power & Watersports Show at Earls Court is gearing itself up to help deliver new business for the marine leisure and watersports markets
and a memorable experience for everyone who walks through those iconic doors
From 10th November, there will be a stunning display of Linetti sports boats – from Gibbs Marine – in front of Earls Court, in London. Two boats will star at the front entrance of Earls Court as the world of watersports prepares to stamp its mark on this iconic venue yet again when it throws open its doors from 26th to 30th November.
Gibbs Marine will also be exhibiting its range of boats from Regal, Linetti and FT Boats on its stand at this five-day Show.
Don Bissessar, owner of Gibbs Marine, commented, “We are very excited to be participating in a Show which will be attracting many first time boaters. The timing is very good, and we’re sure there will be a great spirit at the Show.”
Gibbs Marine is one of many new exhibitors showing motor boats including companies such as Arctic RIBs, CJ Marine, Essex Boatyards, Imperial Motor Yachts, JR Cole Marine Services, Offshore Powerboats, Penton Hook Marine Sales, Redbay Boats, Swordsman Marine, Westbrook, and Wittey Marine.
Following the success of the 2007 show at Earls Court for the UK’s biggest boatbuilder, Northshore Yachts, they’re back. In 2007 they reported Show sales of 12 Southerly Yachts. Next month, boating enthusiasts will be able to get on board the latest Southerly 32 and 38, representing the very best in British design and build quality. Southerly Yachts will complement a range of new exhibitors to the Show including Alerion, Bavaria, Grand Soleil, Imexus, Ovington Boats, Santa Cruz and Wetamarine.
Limited space is still available for companies wishing to exhibit after organisers have announced that their Show is nearly at full capacity.
The Show’s Sales Director, Caroline Evans, commented, “The commitment from this many companies so far ahead of the show is extremely positive. We believe the show has three unique ingredients; location, timing and content. This formula opens up a host of new opportunities from as little as £800 which makes it very easy for companies to participate. As a result, every single person visiting the Show cannot fail to be impressed by the range of boats, accessories and services being promoted.”
