Mariner and Mercury outboard engines have been supplied by E. P. Barrus Ltd to power distribution craft that have been shipped as part of the British Government’s aid in response to the Burma crisis.
A substantial number of 40hp, 4-stroke Mariner and Mercury engines fitted to the flat-bottomed distribution boats are now operating in the region. Designed to navigate shallow inland waters, these boats are critical to the emergency response.
Mark Coleman, General Manager, Special Products Division, E. P. Barrus Ltd comments, ‘The team had just 48 hours in which to turn the engines around from receipt of the order to final despatch by aircraft. The engine build, pre-delivery inspection checks and assembly of the spares package were delivered with just one hour to spare before take off!.”
