DSK-Comifin prepare for Swan 45 Worlds

Leaders of the Swan 45 international and med circuits, DSK-Comifin are looking ahead to the upcoming World Championships hosted by the team’s home club, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.

With a strong lead and their experienced crew, DSK-Comifin are well prepared for the Swan 45 Worlds which will see 23 Swan 45s on the start line from ten nations.

Following on from their win at the Copa del Rey, American tactician Chris Larson will be back on board together with team manager and J24 world champion Andrea Casale.

It was Danilo Salsi’s Swan 45 DSK-Comifin, with Chris Larson on tactics, that came out on top at the Copa del Rey. After 12 races, DSK-Comifin was victorious among the fleet of 16 Swan 45s racing in Palma.

Commenting on the racing, owner-driver Danilo Salsi said: “The regatta was one of the best, with great weather. The breeze everyday was 12 to 15 knots. Excellent work was done by the race committee in that the marks were in good position and were changed perfectly every time.”

Salsi continued, giving credit to his crew and the team’s new tactician: “It was the first time with a new tactician, Chris Larson, and he did a good job. The results speak for themselves. It was a good trial for the world championships in Porto Cervo and we will arrive very hungry!”

In second place was RW Bols with Swan 45 No Limits-Boldit, followed by Tea Ekengren-Sauren in third with Blue Nights. Thanks to a bullet in the final race, the Finnish owner managed to oust Codecasa/Battistella’s Jeroboam Ca’nova for the podium finish.

The next event for the DSK Sailing Team is the World Championships organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, from 8-14 September.

DSK's Tactician Pietro D'Ali tackles La Solitaire Figaro

On 25 July, DSK-Comifin’s tactician Pietro D’Alì began the 39th edition of the Solitaire du Figaro – the tough, legendary, solo race divided into various legs – from La Rochelle, France.

Pietro is the only Italian amongst the 54 participants to compete in the 1880 mile race, subdivided into three legs. The first 465 mile leg ends in Vigo, Spain. The second leg, is scheduled to depart from Vigo for Cherbourg-Octeville on 31 July and is 590 miles long.

The final leg starts on 8 August – it is the longest in the history of the Solitaire du Figaro – 825 miles which will circumnavigate the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea, before heading for l’Alber Wrac’h, France.

Pietro will sail aboard Mc Louis.
